2019 Family Sessions with Public Safety Officials

For the third year in a row, I along with a number of awesome photographers, provided public safety personnel and their families with free pictures. This past year, I reacquainted myself with families I met in previous years and made friends with new ones this year. It was fun as always not just seeing all the families, but also hanging out with my friends.

What is this event you ask? Well, as a small thank you to all of the brave men and women who keep us safe, healthy, and out of trouble, a group of Rhode Island Portrait Photographers gather together for one day and offer a day of FREE mini sessions to officers and their immediate families. The only requirement is that officers/firefighters/EMT's/other public safety professionals must be present with their families, and they must wear their uniform or a badge if they do not have a uniform. The idea behind this event is to give law enforcement families portraits that they wouldn't normally take: ones with the officer in uniform. Kids are SO proud of parents who are in public safety but most families will answer "no" if you ask them if they have a portrait all together with the officer in uniform.

It is always a privilege to give back to individuals who’ve made their profession a life of service. Ironically, given the current conditions I am unsure as to whether or not we will have a 2020 version of this event and this year more than ever, I believe these folks deserve more than just kudos. As of May 9th 2020, social distance photo sessions are now permitted in public spaces, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed that we will! As we head into summer, I’m offering family portrait sessions with discounted session fees for public safety professionals.
